Types of Massage Therapy We Offer:
When a woman is expecting a baby, the long list of preparations can be
overwhelming. Of course it’s healthier for both mother and baby if
stress and tension can be minimized during pregnancy. A good way to
achieve this is by incorporating massage into her prenatal care.
Please note that the woman must be in her 2nd or 3rd trimester to
receive a prenatal massage.
Each stage of pregnancy brings
changes to the body; for example, spine and hip misalignment that alters
posture and balance; increased hormones that may affect mood and cause
erratic sleep patterns; and increased strain on various muscles and
organs in the body. Some women experience swollen extremities due to
circulatory changes and/or mild to severe fatigue. However, a properly and
safely performed massage can ease this discomfort. And for the woman who
is feeling great, massage is still a lovely gift to give herself and her
baby!
The American Pregnancy Association has designated Swedish
Massage as the preferred form of prenatal massage therapy for its
ability to reduce edema, muscle tension, headaches, stress and anxiety.
In addition, it can improve the oxygenation of soft tissues and muscles,
and help mothers-to-be sleep better. Massage is a safe and relaxing way of
achieving equilibrium – both physically and mentally – during
pregnancy.
